Gai cake is a rustic cake, dating back to a long time in Vietnamese countryside. In contrast to the black cake, the hemp cake has a sweet golden bean filling. The cake has a characteristic hemp leaf scent. Please refer to how to make the following hemp cake!
Ingredients for making hemp cakes
- 500g of fresh hemp leaves.
- 500g Tai Ky sticky powder
- 100gr of tapioca.
- 300g tomato green beans.
- 300g white sugar.
- 150g shredded dried coconut
- 30g white sesame seeds.
- 100g of pig's neck fat.
- Cooking oil.
- Grapefruit perfume
- Fresh banana leaves have been dried to dry leaves or dried banana leaves
- Soft bamboo
- Stunning.
How to make hemp cake:
Wrapper.
- Choose fresh hemp leaves that are not young and old, boil them so they are soft, then take them out and let them cool, and scatter them well.
- Put the hemp leaves in a mortar or mill to make a fine powder
- Mix well and thoroughly glutinous flour + tapioca + hemp leaf powder (A)
- Cook 150g of sugar to dissolve with about ¼ liter of water and let cool, then add to the mixture (A) and knead them to be sticky and shiny.
- Roasted sesame seeds
Cake filling
- Green beans soaked in warm water, you spend about 2 hours, then steam them and crush them
- Put fat on the back of the pig, boil it, then cut it into small pieces, mix with about 2 teaspoons of cooking oil and wait for the clear fat to be removed.
- Grated coconut, you dip it in boiling water and let it drain.
- Mix the above mixture with a little sugar and add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil.
Wrapping and steaming the cake
- Wipe the banana leaves off with a wet towel and apply vegetable oil
- Pinch the dough like making a donut and roll it over to roasted sesame seeds
- Cover the cake with banana leaves
- Steam the cake in the bag, you remember to put the cake out!
